Nikos Bariamis, from Sparti, Greece, will be teaching dances from various villages in Northern and Southern Laconia.
Bio
Niko Bariamis, born in 1992, resides in Sparta, Greece, with roots in Skala and Kremasti, Laconia. He is a founding member, teacher, and artistic director of the Folklore Group of Laconia, promoting traditional dance and music throughout the region. Bariamis also instructs at the Geraki Charitable Association and the Politistiko Syllogo Vatikon, and has organized numerous cultural performances.
An experienced instructor, he has led seminars and workshops on Laconian dances in Greece and internationally, including in the USA, Canada, and France. He has also served as an assistant director for multiple groups at the Folk Dance Festival (2023-2025).
Since 2007, Bariamis has conducted extensive folklore research in Laconia, focusing on regional music and dance. This research underpins his teaching and publications, including "ZARAKAS - Dances & Songs from Southeastern Laconia" (2019) and "ARACHOVA - Dances & Songs from Karyes, Laconia" (2022), both published by the Folklore Group of Laconia. He also served as general editor and participant coordinator for two episodes of the television program "Alati tis Gis," showcasing Laconian musical and dance traditions.
